SWATCHES: Pur Cosmetics Elevation Highlighter Palette ($15)

One of the best deals out there right now for a highlighter palette belongs to Pur Cosmetics that you can find for only $15 ($60 value) at Ulta. I went with my co-worker to Ulta during a lunch break, and we came across the Elevation Perfecting Highlighter Palette by Pur Cosmetics which also comes with a mini fan brush. We both thought that the set was a great deal, so we each bought it!

The palette is considered a "mini" palette, but I think you get a lot for the price. Here is the package of the palette itself.

 Back of the palette.

Fortunately this palette comes with a nice sized mirror.

I was captivated by the middle color, Altitude, but I was most impressed by "Upgrade," a peachy highlight.

"Boost" is a champagne gold highlighter, and "Altitude" reminds me of Becca Cosmetic's "Moonstone," a white highlighter. "Upgrade" is my favorite of the three.

The fan brush is not my favorite. The brush picked up product very easily and applies well, but it feels so flimsy. I prefer denser brushes because I can control where I want to apply makeup.

Some logistical items. The total net weight of the highlighters is 0.27 oz, meaning each shade contains 0.09 oz. The palette was also made in China.

Overall, I think this is a great palette. This is also a great way to try out different highlighter shades for a great price. :)

REVIEW: Jouer Cosmetics Long-Wear Lip Creme Liquid Lipstick in "Bronze Rose"

Jouer Cosmetics creates beautiful liquid lipstick formulas. I gravitate towards using them over some of the other brands because they're easy to wear, they're comfortable, and they're hydrating. The only issue that I have had with Jouer's formula is that the lipstick crumbles whenever I add a second layer. I own six of their liquid lipsticks, including "Bronze Rose" ($18) which I picked up a few weeks ago from Side note: is one of my favorite beauty online retailers that offers free shipping no minimum, and constant deals. I saw that Jouer released fall shades including "Bronze Rose," and I knew I just had to have it for the fall/winter seasons. One great thing about Jouer's formula is that it is opaque. I have worn liquid lipsticks such as from Milani where the formula is too darn sheer and watery.

"Bronze Rose" is described as a metallic deep rose, which I think is an accurate description. I own a metallic liquid lipstick in "Nolita" from Lonely Planet, and that dried my lips and accentuated my lip lines. I was afraid of purchasing another metallic shade because of this experience, but the color looked so rich and vibrant online, so I gave in.

Unlike the other lip cremes from Jouer, "Bronze Rose" can be layered. I have worn this shade and formula throughout many days and evenings, eating holiday foods, and food truck yummies, and this lipstick has stayed on pretty well. The only time I saw fading was whenever I ate greasy food, and the fading would only occur on the inner lips. I would reapply with a second layer, and it would still look good. This formula does not go into your lip lines much, but I also believe that color matters. Lighter metallic shades with fine glitters will sink into your lip lines and will be more noticeable than darker shades such as "Bronze Rose." It's just my hypothesis. By the end of the evenings that I have worn this, I did notice that my lip lines were more prominent, but not in the nasty crusty looking way.

How much do I enjoy this color and formula? I  love it. My boyfriend also loves this color on me. I am not too into rose lip colors, but I enjoy this one from Jouer because it is a deeper shade of rose. Bronze. It gives a beautiful shine. If you want to try it out yourself I recommend purchasing it from Dermstore to get free shipping or else you would need to spend $25 on Jouer's website to get free shipping.

Life Update: I Moved!

I moved. Again. In three months I lived in three cities: Anaheim, San Diego, and now Los Angeles. This summer was full of craziness. It was hectic constantly packing and unpacking, but I've finally settled into my place in the City of Angels. I've been here for three weeks working at my new job (public health field). I'm loving my job thus far, but I'm not used to living and working in an urban area like LA. I've been homesick here and there, and I'm so grateful that San Diego is only a two hour drive away (without LA traffic-- haha). Surely I'll adjust to this city life! I know there's so many things to do here, and I'm also grateful for the opportunities that I have. :)

I have unpacked all of my beauty stuff, and I'm finishing up the organization.  I have some blog post and video ideas that I'm itching to get started on once time permits. Don't worry, I'll be back! I hope you are doing well! :)

First Impressions/Review: NEW L'Oreal Pure Clay Mask - Detox & Brighten - Charcoal

L'Oreal has recently released a set of three different clay masks that you can now get your hands on at your local drugstore or superstore between $10 to $13. I picked up two of the three, and I'm pretty positive I will be picking up the one I don't have eventually! This line of masks are known as the Pure-Clay Mask with each having their own functions.

Each type of clay mask contains the three pure clays: kaolin, montmorillonite, and Moroccan lava, but what makes each mask unique is that they also each have different ingredients to perform certain tasks for our skin.

The green mask has eucalyptus which is supposed to purify and mattify your face, and the orange red mask contains red algae which supposed to exfoliate and refine your skin. The one I did a first impressions on is comparable to the original GlamGlow mask, the detox and brighten treatment mask that contains charcoal.

The Detox & Brighten treatment mask helps with dull and tired skin, bringing radiance to your skin meanwhile drawing out the impurities. L'Oreal also claims that this product will even out your skin tone.

If you have used clay masks before, applying this charcoal treatment is no different. I used to use my fingers to apply any kind of clay mask, but now I like to use a brush. Clay mask brushes are fairly inexpensive. I recommend using a flat foundation brush that you do not use to apply the mask. You can get the Wet N Wild flat foundation brush for $0.99 at Walgreens or Rite Aid that works perfectly for clay mask application.

The clay comes in a simple jar with a green top. You get 1.7/48 grams of product.

I recommend applying a thin layer of product or else it will take a lot longer to dry. Avoid the eye area, and let the product work its magic for 10 to 15 minutes. I generally leave on my masks for 15 minutes or until it gets too dry. I do not recommend leaving it on for too long (>30 minutes) because your skin can get irritated from too much tightening. Yes, I am crossing my eyes in the photo below! :P

This is a photo of my skin after using the charcoal clay mask. I am quite impressed with this product. It left my skin feeling refreshed, smooth, clear and bright! Unfortunately I no longer have the original GlamGlow to compare this to, but the L'Oreal clay mask did essentially the same thing, but at a huge fraction of the GlamGlow price.

If you want to see me try this product out for the first time, check out my first impressions/review below:

  • Inexpensive ($10-$13. I purchased mine from Target for $10. It's affordable!)
  • Draws out impurities
  • Makes skin appear brighter, clearer and smoother!
  • None! I do recommend putting on a mask prior showering because it can be a little messy over the sink!

That is it for my first impressions and review. Thanks for reading and stopping by. :)

KOREAN BEAUTY REVIEWS: Nooni, Cosrx, Nature Republic, Etc.! (EP. 1)

Videos that I enjoy filming are reviews and first impressions, but sometimes I just want to sit and do a bunch of reviews, which is why I'm going to start doing multiple Korean beauty product reviews in one video. Here's the first episode:

These were the products that I mentioned with a few thoughts:

- Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch - Great for taking out acne secretion and healing pimples.
- Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask - Great for firming your face and cleaning out your pores.
- Nature Republic 92% Aloe Vera Gel - I love this for the summer. Very refreshing.
- Koelf Cosmetic Royal Jelly Hydro Eye Patch - My eye bag"depuffer"
- Nooni Advanced Repair Therapy Super Vitalizing Gel Cleanser - A gentle cleanser for a deep cleanse.
- Nooni Advanced Repair Therapy Super Vitalizing Cream - Great cream for hydration. I like wearing this overnight.

If you want a more in-depth review and more photos of the Nooni products, I did a blog post HERE.

REVIEW: Nooni Advanced + Repair Therapy Super Revitalizing Gel Cleanser & Super Revitalizing Cream

I have two products to discuss today from the Advanced + Repair Therapy line from Memebox's brand, Nooni. I was sent the Super Revitalizing Gel Cleanser ($15) and the Super Revitalizing Cream ($40) to review, and I have been testing these products out for about a month since receiving them.

The Super Revitalizing Gel Cleanser is a mild clear gel cleanser that mainly contains centella asiatica extract which can reduce swelling and circulation. According to the Memebox website, this ingredient will calm and relieve skin redness and irritations, good for sensitive skin. Also with ingredients from Jeju Island of Korea, this product is supposed to deep cleanse your skin, remove makeup, keep your skin hydrated, all without stripping your skin's natural oils.

I've been using this cleanser with my Foreo Luna Mini 2. What I do is squeeze a tiny dab of the cleanser out of the tub, apply it onto my face in areas and then cleanse away using my Foreo. This is standard routine for me when I cleanse my face no matter what facial cleanser I am using.

First, there's a scent to this cleanser, and I may not be 100% correct, but I think it's the centalla asiatica extract. The scent smells like some kind of citrus and other plant combined, but the good thing is that the scent isn't overpowering. It's a scent I am not familiar with, but it's not too bad. Second, the texture of this cleanser is similar to Vaseline. It is a gel cleanser, so it will feel like a gel--lightweight! Third, a little bit of product goes a long way. This cleanser lathers up really well with my Foreo, and I like that because I feel like my face is getting a good cleaning. This cleanser really does clean! My face feels super clean every time I use this, but it doesn't feel like it leaves my face feeling stripped. I have normal/dry skin during the winter and it becomes combination of dry and oily (strangely!) during warmer seasons, so this is great for my skin during the summer a.k.a. right now! If you have dry skin, I recommend using a milk cleanser (Yes to Cucumber! Milk Cleanser is my fave!) since milk cleansers are more hydrating. Aside from leaving my skin feeling clean every time, it also makes my skin smoother and brighter. Overall, I've been enjoying this cleanser although I can probably do without the scent.

Next is the Super Revitalizing Cream which is essentially a moisturizer. This is a "repair therapy cream" mainly containing centalla asiatica along with the three ingredients: calendula, primrose oil, and ceramide 3 which Nooni/Memebox trademarked as the "phyto-cure complex." These ingredients are supposed to nourish, calm troublesome skin and hydrate, respectively. Something I've noticed about this cream compared to other creams I own is that this has a thicker texture, again like Vaseline. I enjoy using this in the evening since it has a thicker consistency, so I recommend applying this right before jumping into bed. I take a small scoop and pat it into my face, and although it's thick, it dries fairly quickly. However, it does leave a bit of tackiness on your face for a while which is also why I prefer wearing this cream in the evening. I cannot vouch that this cream has done wonders for my skin, but I will say that it does provide a lot moisture for my skin. My face feels hydrated and very smooth in the morning! Even during the summer I have dry and rough skin when I wake up, and this product can solve those problems. Overall I am happy with this product, although I'm not too fond of the thick texture. You can see more photos below. :)

The product comes in a 50 mL jar. I prefer my skincare products to come with a pump since it's more sanitary, but I understand that becomes costlier for the company.

Looks like a tub of petroleum jelly right?

Although it has a thicker consistency, it's not hard to work with. It absorbs easily into my skin.

I decided to take before and after pictures of my hand using the cream, and you can obviously see that my hand in the after picture looks a lot more hydrated than the left hand. That's a pretty cool and big difference huh?

Overall, two thumbs up!

First Impressions/Review: St. Tropica Organic Coconut Hot Oil Hair Mask

Hi everyone! I have another first impressions review on a hair mask for you today! I picked up the St. Tropica Organic Coconut Hot Oil Hair Mask from TJ Maxx for $3.49 after hearing so many positive reviews. The company, St. Tropica, claims that this product is suppose to give your hair a luxurious feel that makes your hair thicker, stronger, longer and shinier. Not only does it contain virgin coconut oil, but it contains a lot of other organic ingredients as well as listed below:

Organic virgin coconut oil, organic biotin, organic horsetail, organic amla, organic hibiscus, organic green tea, organic coconut butter, organic coconut fruit extract

This hair mask is certified organic, vegan, and cruelty free. From the video you can see that my hair is generally weightless with frizz especially during the summer. I have done coconut hot oil treatments previously, but what I noticed about this mask was that it seemed to provide more shine and smooth texture to my hair. You can check out my first impressions above. :)

You can purchase this hair mask in multiple packs on their website or you can purchase single packs on the Ulta website for $3.99 each.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS/DEMO: Skinmiso Pore Beauty Nose Pack!

Here's a first impression and a demo video of a product I recently tried out called the Pore Beauty Nose Pack by the Korean skincare brand, Skinmiso! This is a three-step system that is suppose to clear out your blackheads and whiteheads. A three-step blackhead removal system is popular in Korea from what I am aware of. I know that Holika Holika has one! I will try out the Holika Holika one in a few months since I do have it, and let you guys know my opinion on that one compared to this one. Anyway, enjoy! :)

Products mentioned:
- Skinmiso Pore Beauty Nose Pack (4 sets) - $12
- Skinmiso Comedo Remover - $11

REVIEW: Jouer Limited Edition Mermaid Long-Wear Lip Creme Liquid Lipstick

Matte liquid lipsticks are the hype right now, and I admit that I am a contributor to that hype (as well as the highlighter hype)! Over the past year, I feel as if matte liquid lipsticks have gotten better and better in terms of formula. My first purchase of liquid lipsticks were the original Milani Amore, but I found that they were drying and some colors were very streaky. I like hydrating lipsticks because my lips tend to be dry and my favorite matte liquid lipsticks so far that I have tried are from Lonely Planet Co., an indie brand that can be found on Etsy. Jouer Cosmetics released their own line of liquid lipsticks this year that are marketed as long-wear lip creme liquid lipsticks, and I quite like their formula. It is not as hydrating as the Lonely Planet ones, but they are up there in rank for me.

They recently released their Mermaid summer collection, and I picked up the limited edition shade, Watermelon ($18), which is a matte bright red. This is red. RED, like POW in your face! It certainly reminds me of watermelon, and I love it! It dries fast, dries completely matte, and it's hydrating on the lips. I like red lipstick, but I usually wear a neutral shade because red lips are so difficult to upkeep throughout the day. If you eat something, that red creamy lipstick you love so much? Well, you just ate half of it. See the dilemma I hate dealing with?

But this. Even though oily foods will take this apart, it doesn't fall apart completely like when you would wear a creamy lipstick. It's a stunning color with a great formula. I will say the biggest con to this lipstick is that it sucks at layering. Once you put another layer on top of the previous layer you will notice that it'll start clumping and flaking, so reapplication of this liquid lipstick will be difficult. I would suggest wiping the entire lipstick off prior in order to reapply a new layer. The color and formula are very opaque, so this is only a huge problem when you eat oily foods. Other than that, it's a great liquid lipstick!

REVIEW/SWATCHES: Topshop Beauty Mono Eye Shadows

I recently purchased three Topshop Eyeshadows through the Topshop website for $2 each on sale. Unfortunately these shadows are no longer available on their website, so I won't go into too much details about them. You can however purchase the shade Spaceport for $12. Price discrepancies? I don't know, but I feel as if Topshop shadow are randomly stocked and priced online. Holograph and Hallucination are available on the UK Topshop website.

These shadows are very pretty! From left to right the shadows are named: Hallucination, Pyramid and Holograph.

Hallucination is a lavender/silver duo chrome.

Pyramid is a gold shimmer.

Holograph is a white/silver/icy blue trio chrome.

I'm not the type of person to wear shades like Hallucination and Holograph, but sometimes it's just fun to experiment! These shadows are gorgeous, but the issue that I have with them is that you have to really pack them on the lids in order for them to show since the formula for these are thin. They're powdery, so eye shadow primer is a must, but for $2 each I cannot complain. These are probably best applied wet. I normally put on foundation first in my makeup routine, however I am unable to do that with these shadows since there is a lot of fall out. Again, I think I got a great steal for $2, but I would not pick these up for $12 (retail price). I would rather spend $12 and get two Makeup Geek or MAC eye shadows instead. Hopefully these will go back in stock (for $2)!

I am wearing Holograph on the lids and in the creases. I am also wearing Tarte's Tartelette in Bloom Eye Shadow palette in Jetsetter and Rebel in the creases and Leader in the outer Vs.

Beauty Haul!

I have a collective haul to share with you today! This is probably one of my favorite hauls probably because of the Foreo and highlighters! There's a bunch of highlighters that I bought, and I cannot wait to glow this summer! Please let me know if you would like to see a review on any of the products I have mentioned. I have been using my Foreo for several days now, and I am planning on reviewing it after giving it at least one month. I also thought about comparing the Foreo to a manual brush from Memebox that I purchased a while back. :) Any who, enjoy the video!

REVIEW & DEMO: Banila Co. Clean It Zero

Hello everyone! It is almost the end of the week! Yay! Today I have a review on one of my favorite skincare products by a Korean brand, Banila Co. This is a very popular cleansing balm known as Clean It Zero, and there are several other versions of this by Banila Co., but the one I am reviewing is the original.

This is a sherbet cleanser that takes off your makeup with ease including waterproof eyeliner and lipstick stains. No joke. All you have to do is scoop a tiny bit of the sherbet into your palms, rub it together until it melts, massage your face with it, and wash it off with lukewarm water. It is such a great cleanser that I highly recommend. I used to use the Boots cleansing balm from Target, but I stopped because it left my face oily. However, this Banila Co. one surprisingly leaves my face hydrated and non-oily.

You can see my demo down below. I'm not too fond of wearing waterproof makeup, but I did wear a  waterproof liquid eyeliner and a liquid lipstick.

I purchased mine for $16 on the US Memebox website. Now, $16 can be a lot for a cleansing balm, but truly, a little bit goes a long way! :)

P.S. I told my sister about this product, so she purchased it and now loves it too! :)
