byAlegory Lipstick Organizer - 25% off your first!

I have no organization method when it comes to organizing my lipsticks or any of my makeup, and recently I decided to try out a clear cosmetics holder for some of my lipsticks. byAlegory is a cosmetics organizer retailer that I have known about for some time, but I never purchased an organizer from them because I figured once I start, I won't stop. Hah!

I finally caved in and purchased an organizer when I saw that they were offering 25% off your first lipstick organizer purchase via Amazon.Currently a standard lipstick holder is $14.89, so after coupon it'll be $11.17. Not too bad!

Here's what the clear acrylic standard lipstick holder looks like. The biggest lipstick that it'll fit is my YSL, but unfortunately it won't fit anything bigger like Flower Beauty or Marc Jacobs lipstick. I believe that the promo code above will also work for oversized lipstick organizers. According to the details you are allowed to purchase as many lipstick holders you want with your first purchase, but you are only allowed to use the coupon once per Amazon account.

They have other organizers that aren't on sale, and I consider them pricey, so I'm not sure if I would repurchase from them again. $20 for a compact holder isn't too pretty for my wallet, especially when I have a ton of makeup. I know TJ Maxx and Marshalls carry makeup organizers, so I'll look into those stores for other options next time. How do you organize your makeup?

*I purchased the organizer with my own money.*

REVIEW: Garnier UK Micellar Cleansing Water

Let me just flat out say that this is a must-have product. I am talking about the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water from the UK. This stuff is amazing!

I have never tried the Simple Micellar Cleansing Water that everyone is talking about and unfortunately I cannot do a comparison since I do not own it, but can I say that this is probably a better value?! With 400 mL, you can get up to 200 uses out of this bottle for arond five bucks. Yes, five bucks for a huge bottle versus $7 for 198 mL of the Simple Micellar Cleansing Water. Unfortunately you cannot purchase this in the States, but it is available for shipping to the States from the UK through the FeelUnique website for a current price of $5.41 a bottle! You get free shipping if you spend $15, so what I did was purchased three. Two of the one seen below and a cleansing water for sensitive skin.

I've used this product at least 20 times already, and I still have so much product left!

Here is a description of the product on the FeelUnique Website:

Is Garnier Cleansing Micellar Water for me?
Yes, if you are looking for an efficient and easy to use product that cleanses and removes make-up gently in one step.

Why is it different?
Garnier Cleansing Micellar Water is an easy way to remove make-up, soothe and hydrate the face, eye area, and lips, in 1 step without rinsing.

How does it work?
For the first time, Garnier introduces the Micellar technology in an all-in-one cleanser. Like a magnet, the cleansing agents capture and lift away dirt from the skin. No need to rub to remove impurities and make-up.

The result:
Perfectly cleansed and refreshed skin without rubbing or rinsing. Garnier Cleansing Micellar Water has a soothing and fragrance free formula that suits all skin types, even sensitive.

Directions: Apply Garnier Cleansing Micellar Water to a cotton pad and wipe the face, eyes and lips. No rinsing required.

This product does a great job at removing all of my makeup off including my eye makeup. It'll even take off your waterproof eye makeup. I haven't tried the bottle for sensitive skin, but I feel as if this bottle is good for those with sensitive skin as well. There's no perfume, it doesn't sting, and it feels light on the skin. There's no residue left over, and I feel comfortable leaving the product as is on my face after I wipe the makeup off my face. Does it leave my face hydrated? Surprisingly yes! You really do not have to rinse. I do not wear makeup everyday, and I enjoy using this product just to cleanse my face and freshen it up. I apply the micellar water on cotton rounds/pads, and I normally use 3-4 whenever I am wearing a full face of makeup.  I highly recommend this product if you're looking for a good makeup remover.

SWATCHES: Too Faced La Creme Lipsticks in Bumbleberry and Sweet Maple $11!

Hi everyone, and happy hump day! If you are a beauty fanatic, then you probably know that Ulta is having a 21 Days of Beauty where you can get stellar deals on some of your favorite brands. Today's deal is on the Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched Cremes, and instead of being $22, they are $11 (limit 2)! That's 50% off! Unfortunately most colors are sold out online, but if it's convenient for you, try checking out a local Ulta store! I went this morning at 10:20AM, 20 minutes after Ulta opened and was able to get the two I wanted: Bumbleberry and Sweet Maple.

These berry colors are so perfect for the fall! :)

REVIEW: Maybelline Dream Pure BB in "Light/Medium"

I have been looking for an affordable foundation or BB cream for the past month or so, and I think I may have found it! Earlier this summer my skin has been experiencing some breakouts here and there around my forehead, cheeks and chin. It's incredibly frustrating seeing little dots appearing in a new place every other day! I am unsure as to why I started breaking out all of a sudden, but I believe my breakouts have been contributed by the heat and humidity southern California has been experiencing. I normally wear Revlon Colorstay Foundation for normal/dry skin, but I figured I should look for a product that feels lighter weight when worn. I have used the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB in the past when it first came out, and I did not like it at all. It was way too sheer for me. I knew that Maybelline also had a different BB cream in a turquoise packaging, and I found out it was the Maybelline Dream Pure BB with salicylic acid! This product has been out for for a while already, but who cares?! This was what I needed! I read reviews, watched YouTube videos, and decided it would be worth a try since I wanted something light, provides light to medium coverage, and can treat my blemishes!

This is what it claims:

Maybelline's 1st blemish fighting BB cream helps clear skin with 8 great skin benefits! With 2% salicylic acid. For combination and/or blemish-prone skin.

Why You'll Love It: Their Dream Pure BB Cream is a 1-step wonder for healthy-looking skin today and clearer skin tomorrow.

  • Clears acne
  • Conceals imperfections
  • Minimizes look of pores
  • Reduces appearance of redness
  • Adjusts to skin tone
  • Hydrates and smoothes
  • Enhances and clarifies skin
  • Is oil-free, with a lightweight feel

2% salicylic acid is one of the highest percentages of this powerful blemish-fighter that you can get without a prescription, yet it's gentle enough to use every day.

I was able to find it at my local Walmart for $7.49 which is very affordable. On top of that I used a coupon that I found online that allows you to save $2.00 off ONE Maybelline Face Product, so I ended up paying $5.49 plus tax. Not bad.

Packaging. Similar to their first BB cream, Maybelline Dream Fresh, this BB is 1.0 fluid ounces, and is in a squeezable tube. The packaging is very light, so I could see this as a product someone could easily travel with.

Pigmentation & Coverage. I am tan from the summer, but knowing that I am back in school I picked up light/medium. Light/medium is a tad bit lighter than my current skin tone whenever I first apply it on, but eventually I do feel like this product self adjusts to match my skin tone. Coverage is light to medium. It does a good job at evening out my skin tone and covering most of my acne scars and blemishes. If you are looking for a full coverage BB or foundation, this is not it!

You can see that it blended nicely into my skin. It's hardly noticeable.

Formula & Application. I was afraid that this would appear too matte on my skin since I read reviews stating that it's more for oily/combination skin, but it didn't. It actually left my skin a little dewy and hydrated, and it felt natural and light. I had no issues using my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge with this product. It's not too thick and not too runny.

If you are someone who is looking for a light-weight light/medium coverage BB cream that hydrates your skin and treats your acne, this is it! Some of my emerging pimples that have been appearing on my skin have  slowly been diminishing which is a plus! I've been loving this product so far, and I will continue to use it, so long as my skin loves it! :)

Just wearing the BB cream alone!

Wearing a full face of makeup.
Long-lasting so long as you also powder your face too.

REVIEW: ColourPop Cosmetics Ultra Matte Lips in "Trap" and "Tulle"

One of the rages right now in the beauty community are matte liquid lipsticks, and ColourPop has jumped on board earlier in the summer to release a line of them. My head has been out of the beauty gutter for a couple of months, so I only found out about them earlier in August, and that's when I decided to pick up a few products from their website including two of their Ultra Mattes. For $6 a pop, why not?

I selected Tulle and Trap. These two colors are very different. Tulle according to their site is a mauve burgundy while Trap is a dusty grey/beige. Color descriptions are on point.

Packaging. I like the packaging. It's sleek and pretty. I love that I am able to see the color of the lip product through the packaging. The wand is a doe foot applicator.

Pigmentation. Very pigmented!
Formula and Application. Here is the tricky part because these lippies are named "Ultra Mattes" for a reason, because they really are ultra matte. It's incredibly amazing how matte these products can get, and it's also amazing how fast they dry! With that said, these are very drying. The plus side? They last for hours, and hours. No joke. I ate food, drank and nothing transferred. However, there's no moisture, nada. I'm a girl who has dry/normal skin most of the year, and so I like wearing lip products that keep my lips hydrated, so these Ultra Mattes aren't for me, and they are also uncomfortable to wear. I also noticed that the formula is very liquid-y in the tube. If you are planning on purchasing these, be sure to keep them in a cool area, and be careful when you pull out the wand applicator from the tube because some of the product may splatter.

Here are the application tips from their website:

Application Tips

Step 1: Make sure your lips are bare and dry! Step 2: Apply complimentary lip pencil for a precise and perfected application. Step 3: Apply Ultra Matte Lip with the applicator or your favorite lip brush. **For smoothest finish always exfoliate your lips first!
This thin and lightweight formula glides onto the lips smoothly and leaves SUPER intense pigment-rich colour with a bold, ultra matte look. It’s very long wearing and completely kiss proof!

I agree with their application tips. Do not wear a lip balm on your lips or else they will not apply correctly, and it won't be completely matte. Keep your lips dry, exfoliate as needed. Because of its fast-drying formula, you will need to work carefully.

Swatches. Wet application prior to them drying.
Swatches.  This is when they are dried.

Trap on my lips appears more lavender than what is described on their site. This color doesn't look great on me, but I purchased it because I wanted something different. I figured I could wear this during the fall season, and play around with my makeup to try and make it work.

Tulle is a gorgeous color that I could see myself wearing all the time during the fall and winter seasons. Unfortunately I'm not a fan of these formulas, but I am willing to wear this lippie out once in a while.

I find that these are so difficult to apply since they dry so quickly! You can see that I messed up around the edges of my lips.

Overall, in my honest opinion, I do not like these Ultra Matte Lips because they are very drying on my lips, therefore I cannot recommend them. I know many people like them, but they are not for me.

REVIEW & FOTD Using Mostly Drugstore Products!

I am not a makeup artist, and there are days that I struggle with putting on basic makeup, but I try! Who else knows how I feel? I always have uneven winged liner or my brows are always looking like distant cousins. The struggle is real! Today I am actually happy with my makeup, so that's why I am sharing my face of the day (FOTD)! Hah!

Like my headband? I love it. It's from American Eagle, but I found it at TJ Maxx for only $1.99! That's an amazing deal!

Foundation - Revlon Colorstay Foundation Normal/Dry Skin ($12.99) - The pricing for this varies depending on where you purchase it. Pricing at Ulta is usually more expensive, so you can find this at Walmart or Target for a cheaper price, but Ulta usually has deals and coupons that makes the price decent. Any way, this is one of my must-have foundations. My skin always look flawless whenever I wear this foundation. It's a semi-dewy finish on my normal/dry skin, and you don't need much of this product to get a nice coverage. It feels light-weight on my skin, as if I'm not wearing much foundation, but I would say coverage is medium-full depending on how much you apply. The best way to apply this foundation is to use a BeautyBlender or a Real Techniques sponge. This comes in two types: normal/dry skin or oily/combination skin, so be sure to choose the right one for your appropriate skin type.
Concealer - Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in "Medium ($6.99) - Another holy grail of mine is this concealer right now. It's a creamy, blendable concealer that conceals your blemishes and basically anything you want to hide. I like to use this under my eyes as well, and this shade currently works for me since I am tan from the summer. You will notice little creasing occurring underneath the eye area, but it's not too bad as long as you apply a thin layer of it and set it down with powder.
Powder - Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder in "Sandy Beige" ($8.99) - A favorite of mine is this powder from Maybelline! I love this powder because it is so smooth and is unnoticeable on the skin. It's easy to blend, and my powder blush picks up this product from the pan easily without any issues. I've had great experiences using this product, and I just recently hit pan!
Brows - NYX Cosmetics Tame & Flame in "Brunette" ($6.99) I absolutely love this brow product! If you don't want to spend $$ on Anastasia brow product, try this! It works just as well, if not better. I feel like the texture of this product is a little smoother than the Anastasia Brow Pomade, so this is a little easier for me to work with.
Eyeliner - Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Eyeliner & Serum ($10.99) This is my holy grail liquid eyeliner. I always talk about this product on my blog and previous videos I've posted on my YT channel. Although I still don't know if my eyelashes are growing due to the serum, because honestly, how am I supposed to know, this liner stays on all day and night. This doesn't budge. However, if you have oily eyelids and you are not planning on wearing eye shadow, throw on your favorite eye shadow primer and a matte shadow so that the product doesn't crease because you will see it budge if this is your skin type.
Eye shadow - ColourPop Eye Shadow in "Nillionaire" ($5) ColourPop sells such quality cosmetics at such affordable prices. Nillionaire is a popular metallic finish bronze shadow, that I absolutely love. The eye shadow has a nice cushion-type texture, and it dries so quickly on the skin. There is barely any fallout with this shadow, unless you have a horrible tendency to rub your eyes a lot like me, so I highly recommend ColourPop shadows especially this shade. I love using this on my lids so that my eyes "pop." I used the LORAC Mega Pro palette for my crease and outer V in the shades, "Wisteria" and "Dusty Plum." Unfortunately this was a limited edition shadow palette from last holiday season. LORAC is releasing a LORAC Mega Pro 2 Palette this upcoming holiday season though, so get ready for that!

Highlighter - Becca Cosmetics x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in "Champagne Pop" (LE - $38) - This isn't a drugstore product. Far from it. However, this is a much talked about highlighter that I think is a must-have if you're not on a tight budget. Jaclyn Hill, a phenomenal YouTube beauty makeup artist, collaborated with one of my favorite brands, Becca Cosmetics, to produce a beautiful pressed highlighter filled with white gold and peachy undertones. This seems to look good on everyone that I've seen pictures of wearing this product. I love the sheen and the glow that it gives my face! It's amazing! Becca products some of the best highlighters out there in the market today.

Blush - Makeup Geek Blush Pan in "Romance" ($9.99) - Although you can't purchase Makeup Geek in stores, I still consider this a drugstore-type of product due to its amazing price. While most blushes nowadays retail at high price points in the $20s and $30s, Makeup Geek pans are only $9.99, and the quality of Marlena's products are top notched. Romance is so beautiful and romantic, just like what the blush is named. As described on the website, the blush is a soft rose with gold shimmer. It's exactly that, and it stays on all day. A little goes a long way, so you only need to dip your blush brush in the pan once or twice for each side of your cheeks. :)

Lips - ColourPop Lippie Stix in "Brink" ($5) - This is my new go-to lipstick. This as described on the site as a warm dusty taupe lippie has a matte finish, and is so rich in color. I love that these lipsticks are on a twist-up stick, and are not drying at all compared to some other matte lipsticks out there. If you do drink or eat, the lipstick will gradually come off overtime, and you will have to reapply.

If I could choose my top three products from my look today it will have to be the Becca x Jaclyn Hill highlighter, ColourPop Cosmetics Lippie Stix in "Brink," and the NYX Cosmetics Tame & Flame Pomade! :)

Oh my goodness. Am I going broke? Yes, yes I am. Why? Because Costco is currently carrying several Dolce & Gabbana products on their website right now, and some of them ship for free. These products retail approximately between $12-$20 more on the Sephora website! There are other brands (i.e. Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder) on the Costco website too, but I have a feeling the D&G products will sell out fast, so I'm letting you know now! The Too Faced Chocolate Bar is also on sale at Costco for $35.That's an incredible price! Take advantage now if you want to! Am I an enabler or what?! :P

You do have to be a Costco member to purchase from their website. You can view all their makeup items available for purchase HERE. For GlamGlow, HERE.

REVIEW: Becca Cosmetics x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in "Champagne Pop" (LE)

Highlighters are one of the "it" products right now in the makeup world, and I am all about it just as much as any other beauty enthusiast! I love Becca Cosmetics for their highlighters and blush, and recently almost two months ago, Becca Cosmetics, and the amazing YouTube sensation, Jaclyn Hill released a Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed highlighter in "Champagne Gold," which is exclusively sold at Sephora. I was on a mission to find this product in Sephora, but all the Sephora stores I went into had it all sold out. Fortunately it is still available online on the Sephora website for $38. $38 is expensive, but it's worth it. Why? A little goes a long way, so this product will last you a long time. Described as "soft white gold with pinky peach undertones," this highlighter looks good on so many skin tones! I love the texture of this highlighter. It is finely milled, and applies with ease.  This is a must-have, and unfortunately this is a limited edition product, so get your hands on it as soon as you can if you haven't already!

Look at that shine! The highlight is reflective in a good way. I recommend storing this highlight in a safe place in your makeup collection where it's not to overwhelmingly crowded because this product is soft, so it's possible that it could crack and/or break.

My look today using this product. I applied this above my cheek bones, and down the bridge of my nose. You can use your fingers or a contour brush.

It's definitely noticeable in a good way, which I like. I love having a "glow."

*LE = limited edition

SWATCHES: Colourpop Cheeks and Eye Shadows

I recently made a purchase from ColourPop Cosmetics, and I already want to put in another order! I have purchased from ColourPop before, but I only purchased one item which was the Lumiere Lippie Stix. This time I made a bigger order to try out a few of their other products including a highlighter, blushes, another lippie stix and two ultra matte lipsticks. The lip products I will swatch and/or review in another post.

Everyone is talking about highlighters nowadays, and I remember talking to my sister about Becca highlighters, and she mocked me about having a glow whenever I wear highlighters. Well guess what?! She's obsessed with highlighting or strobing her face now too! Any way, I wanted to try out a highlighter from ColourPop and decided on "Wisp" which is a beautiful pearlized golden champagne product. I showed my sister my ColourPop goodies, and she fell in love with the highlighter too!

These swatch beautifully! The texture is smooth and cushion-y similar to the Maybelline Plush blushes. Look at that color!

Swatched on my back of my hand. I have worn this on my face already, and this formula is budge-proof. The great thing about this is that there is no fall out, plus it dries quickly on the skin. It's a great quality product for $8!

I purchased two blushes, the first one being "Between the Sheets." I'm not too sure about this color right now because it's a little too pink for my liking, but I think that's because I am tan. Hopefully the color settles down once comes winter.  ColourPop describes this as a midtone beige pink

"Between the Sheets" looks Barbie Pink for some reason? Nevertheless, the formula is beautiful just like the highlighter.

I am so in love with this blush right now, and it's called "Quarters." According to the ColourPop website, this is a satin midtone dusty coral, which I agree with!

This color is so gorgeous!

I purchased two eye shadows from ColourPop to try out the formula and holy snapples are the shadows smooth and slick or what?!

This is "I Heart This" is a cool toned silvery taupe shade, and it's stunning!

I definitely like "Nillionaire" more because I always love a warm toned brown. This one extra special because of the glitter. Despite it being a glittery shadow, the formula is so good that there is no fallout with both this shadow and "I Heart This."

I've used each of these products at least once already since they came in the mail, and I can understand the hype. These really are great products at such an affordable price, and based on my first impressions I highly recommend them. :)
