Manicure Monday: Revlon Perfumerie in "Sunlit Grass"

Happy Memorial Day everyone! I am wearing a bright sunflower yellow polish today just because I'm feeling bright and happy! This is Revlon's "Sunlit Grass," which is one of many shades from the Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel line. The scent is faint, but you can smell the fresh cut grass or nature's beauty if you take a closer whiff at your nails.

I found the formula for this polish to be streaky, hence which is why I ended up wearing three coats instead of my standard two. I suggest applying your coats thicker than how you would normally apply nail polish since I found that the thicker it is, the less streaky your nails look. I think this is a fun color to wear for the summer. :)

You can get this polish at your local CVS for as low as $1.99 depending on your local CVS pricing! This polish should be on clearance at most CVS for 50% off. The regular retail value of this polish ranges from $5.99 to $6.49, so 50% off is $2.99-$3.25. They may have a pink 50% off sticker on it, but if not, take it to a red scanner and it should tell you that it is discounted. Make this deal better by using a $1.00 off any Revlon Nail Product coupon to lower it to $1.99-$2.25!! :)

REVIEW: Maybelline Color Sensational!

Hi everyone,
This review is on four Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolors including, "Pink Me Up," Shocking Coral," Vivid Rose," and "Sin-A-Mon."

A soft natural pink!

Top: without flash; Bottom: with flash

The lipstick appears bright coral, almost orange even, but the lipstick on lips appears more pink.

It looks very different on the lip! Definitely more of a brighter pink than coral!

A bright and vivid rose pink! This one is one of my favorites!

A light-medium brown that looks very natural against my natural lip color.

  • Each color is pigmented and has great wear time.
  • Sin-A-Mon in particular is creamier than the other three lipsticks.
    • All lipsticks though are not too creamy, and have just the right amount of friction to last all day.
    • Reapplication may be needed after eating or drinking.
      • My lips still have some lipstick leftover even after a meal.
  • No lip liner is needed since these lippies do not bleed.
  • Lipstick colors do not truly match its packaging color (tube and bottom sticker)
  • The worst thing about these Color Sensationals is the smell. Daunting.
    • Think Play-doh. The smell does not go away from my experience. :\

I really do enjoy using the Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks despite of the weird smell. There is a wide selection of colors to choose from, plus they are affordable ($5-$6)!

Manicure Monday: China Glaze - Are You Jelly?

Not a favorite of mine, but I wore China Glaze's "Are You Jelly?" this past weekend. I picked this up along with the rest of the China Glaze Neon Sunsational Jelly set on the Cherry Culture website back in March in hopes that I will get true beautiful jellies, but instead the set including this fuchsia purple were huge letdowns. In case you don't know what a jelly is, it is a polish that creates a semi-transparent/clear finish similar to the food, jello. This does not mean that it's sheer!

"Are You Jelly" is sheer though. I am wearing four coats of the color. FOUR! That's how crazy thin this formula is! I found the formula to be bad, and very watery, and I noticed I had uneven layers of the polish once my nails dried. Not cute! It's too bad the color is gorgeous though! Moral of this really short review: do not get this polish!

In Other News...
  • Expect swatches of a few Maybelline Colorsensational lipsticks sometime this week.
  • I am glad we are getting a break from the hot and dry climate. Last week was horrible as I was sick with the cold, and was forced to deal with prepping for a wildfire evacuation. I fortunately and unfortunately live next to a huge canyon, so you can bet that my emotions were running high! I am grateful that my family and home are safe! Thank you to our wonderful firefighters for braving through the crazy fires!

Happy Saturday everyone!

I saw a GREAT deal going on right now at! Stila's Custom Color Blush in "Bronze" is 75% off at only $4.99!

According to Sephora,

"What it does:
With just a hint of subtle shimmer, this bronzer produces a customized sun-kissed glow on cheeks. The “intuitive” powder can also be used as an all-over bronzer by applying a light dusting over the areas of the face where the sun hits, such as the cheeks, nose and forehead, creating a back-from-the-beach golden glow."

This retails on Stila's website and online at Sephora for $20! Shipping is free, so act now if you want to get this self-adjusting bronzer for this price or before it sells out!

REVIEW: NYC Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner in "Pearlized Black" + Deal!

Believe it or not, I think I've found a very good drugstore eyeliner for only $2.99. Not kidding. I honestly do not remember when I purchased the NYC Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner, but I saw it in my "excess" makeup pile (hah!), and gave it a try several times and surprisingly loved it! I was expecting this liner to perform at a mediocre level because I had a bad experience using NYC Cosmetics' High Definition Liquid Eyeliner, so I thought that this was going to perform just the same. Wrong! I might have to continue buying this liner in the future! This eyeliner comes in two colors: black and pearlized black, which I own.

Pearlized black is a metallic black with very fine silver glitter. Notice how the brush is very much like a brush with long bristles! Many liquid eyeliners are shaped like this or like a pen.

Demo photos:
No flash.

With flash

  • Stroke thinness and thickness can easily be achieved with the brush design of this liquid liner.
    • This liner is very forgiving -- it is easy to correct a mistake.
  • Affordable at $2.99!
  • Great longevity! You can wear this for more than 4 hours and it won't budge.
    • Keep in mind that I do have normal/dry skin though, so I'm not sure how wear will be for those who have combo/oily skin.
  • This is smudgeproof despite it taking a while to dry.
  • It takes longer to dry than most other liquid liners.
    • This may be due to the liner being very "wet"
  • Although this is an easy-to-correct eyeliner, you need a steady hand in order to apply a liner with a brush tip like this.
    • However, this is also a very affordable one that you can practice with!
  • Metallic Black can come off looking grey to the naked eye instead of a black that sparkles.
    • The color is still rich nevertheless.

Will you be trying this out? I'm planning on getting the black one in the future!

DEAL ALERT (now-5/17):

Ipsy Bag - May 2014

Hi everyone,
I received my Ipsy bag today in the mail! If you are unfamiliar with Ipsy, it is a $10 + tax + free shipping monthly subscription service where you receive a bag with 4-5 selected deluxe/full size beauty (skincare, fragrance, cosmetics, cosmetic tools) products garnered towards your taste based on a personalized quiz you take. You can find out further information or sign up on their website:

The theme of this month's bag is "Fresh Picks." According to Ipsy,

"It's a month of crisp air, vibrant flowers, and fresh Glam Bag products! Getting your beauty to bloom all month long will be as easy as lying in the warm grass and basking in the sunshine."

Inside is a card with the theme's name, "Fresh Picks." Ipsy usually puts a list of products that are in your bag on the back of this card with full size prices and discount promo codes, but it looks like they put a year long subscription contest instead. It's okay though because I did the calculations, and figured out how much each sample costs based on its full price and size value!

I really like the earthy, plant, spring bag we received this month. You can see that I received five products this month.

I really like the Pacifica Eye Shadow Duo. I was unable to calculate cost since this is a duo which Pacifica doesn't make.
Unfortunately I do not know what these two shades are. Please let me know if you know! They are both so pretty.  The left shade looks like a matte champagne, but in actuality it is a champagne with pink iridescent that gives it a nice pearlescent finish. It is a little chalky, but it has good color payoff. The one on the right is a beautiful satin finish gold shade.

I haven't tried the next four products yet which are all skincare related items!
I received the Pur~Lisse Pur-Moist Hydra-Balance Moisturizer.
0.5 oz sample size price = $16.17
1.7 oz full size = $55

Jersey Shore Sun - Sans Tan Pure White Mineral Sunscreen with SPF 35. This is an all-natural, anti-aging sunscreen!
0.5 oz sample size = $10
2.0 oz full size = $40

I saw Michelle Phan's Graduation Youtube video HERE where she used this product, and I was really hoping that I would get it, and I did! The sample size is small, but I am still excited to try something new! This is the Hey Honey Facial Peel!

10 mL sample size = $7
50 mL full price = $35

Last but not least, I received the Avene Eau Thermale Thermal Spring Water which I'm really excited to try!
Travel Size = $9

A lot of these products are skincare items, and I'm excited about that. My skin needs some love especially with constant and dramatic weather changes. I know that Ipsy typically provide cosmetic products, but it's nice to take a break and try other new beauty products. I do find that some of the skincare samples are really tiny sizes. That doesn't bother me too much, but I am overall happy with my bag.
