December Monthly Favorites!

It's time for monthly favorites, and this is the last monthly favorites for the 2013 year! That's crazy! I have several favorites for this month that I've been using and loving!

I purchased this Em Cosmetics Winter Life: Ice Bunny Edition last month in November, and I've been using it (eye shadows mainly) quite a lot this month to my surprise . This is a mini edition of the larger life palettes that Michelle Phan sells. I love that these shadows because they feel silky and are pigmented! These shadows are long wearing with a primer, and the colors are great for the winter time! This palette sells for $29 online. You can read my full review on this product HERE.

Another favorite of mine this month is the Rimmel Scandaleyes eyeliner in "brown". The photo below is actually swatches of just the brown eyeliner using different pressures and different amount of strokes over one another. This eyeliner is inexpensive at only $4.49 at the drugstores, and it is creamy so it glides on so well! I am a contact lens user, and I love using these Scandaleyes liners (I have three!) because it doesn't smudge and transfer from my waterline to my contacts. The problem with ultra creamy eye liners is that it smudges easily. I was wearing Milani's Liquif'eye Liner one day on my waterline, and it smudged all over my contact very badly that I had no other choice but to throw my contacts out! These Rimmel liners do not do that, which I can definitely appreciate!. I've been loving the brown one because it makes my eyes look more soft in comparison to using a black liner.

I've had this next product since the end of summer, but I started using it just about a little more than a month ago. This is the Tarte Maracuja Oil that is supposed to moisturize your face and do wonders like making your skin tone even, and help reduce wrinkles. I don't think I've used it long enough to notice major differences, but I have noticed my face isn't dry in the morning when I wake up. I use this at night before bed and in the morning after I wake up, and my face feels smooth and moisturized. So far, so good! I got my sister a tiny sample bottle that she can try out! Hopefully she'll like it too.
The bottle is 50 mL and comes with a dropper. You only need 2-3 drops to cover your entire face.

The Almay Smart Shade Smart Balance foundation is one of those face products that you put on your face and its supposed to find your shade and transform into that shade. I don't think it really tone matches with your real skin tone shade, since it comes in shades of light, light-medium, and medium, but I like this a lot because it's very light weight similar to a BB cream. Coverage is rather light, but you can build up the layers.

Last but not least, I need some kind of moisture on my lip all the time. We've gotten some great sunshine weather in SD (70 degrees) these past few days have left my lips cracked and chapped, and it's awful! I've been using Nivea Lip Butter each night, and it's helped my lips become less dry and nasty! Haha!

That's it for my December favorites! I can't wait for the new year to begin! :)

Statement Necklaces!

What is my favorite accessory to wear of all time? Statement necklaces.

Statement pieces can absolutely make a "plain" outfit look 10x better, making you look more awesome! My favorite statement piece are the necklaces because it centralizes your outfit, and gives your look an extra "umph"; they make a statement.  I personally like to dress casual when I am on the go, and I throw a statement necklace to make it look like I'm more put together. You can find statement necklaces about almost anywhere that sells jewelry! I buy mine from Target, Charlotte Russe, Charming Chalie, etc., and I love finding unique and cool looking ones (like the bug, flower and snake one down below)! Will you be wearing a statement jewelry piece this New Year's Eve?

FOTD: Christmas Day Edition!

I meant to post up what I wore on my face on Christmas day, but I lost track! The look I wore was pretty simple and nothing too fancy except for some beautiful standout classic eye shadow shades from Urban Decay. :)

Everything that I used in this photo right here.

Urban Decay has the BEST quality eye shadows hands down. Yes, I said it! Their shadows are so silky, buttery, smooth, pigmented and has long wear time!

Here are swatches of the four shadows from Urban Decay that I used. Amazing how I didn't use a primer to swatch huh? I didn't use a primer either on my eyelids! Look at how saturated the colors are even without a primer! I used "Baked" on my lids, "Smog" and "Gridlock" on the outer corner of my eyes and I used "Midnight Cowboy" on the inner corner of my eyes. "Baked", "Smog" and "Gridlock" have satin-like finishes and "Midnight Cowboy" is a satin/shimmer finish with very noticeable size glitter that WILL fall out.

That's all that I wore on my face on Christmas day. Pretty simple, huh?

Post-Christmas Shopping!

I hope everyone had a great holiday! Did any of you take advantage of the after-Christmas sales? *Raises hand* I sure did, but no worries because I didn't do that much damage at all! :)

Like always, be sure to check out Target if you haven't done so to see if there's anything that you want and to see what is left from the holiday stock. All holiday items are 50%/30% (food) off right now, and should be going up to 70%/50% off in another 2 or 3 days. Eventually the Christmas items will hit 90% off! Last year I was able to stock up on so many items for 90%/70% off, but items and quantities may vary by store. If you see something at the store that you really want but it's the last one, GET IT. Chances are that it won't be there after you return back to the store! NOTE that these items will not be marked with the red tag sticker. These holiday items will be completely gone after it hits 90% off after a few days! If you are unsure whether or not an item is on clearance, scan it at the red scanners to check! You never know what you'll find. Be sure to search around the toy section and clothing sections as well since there may be hidden items that are part of the after Christmas sale! You can check out what I got last season from when items hit 90% off HERE.

Many stores have "end of the year" sales, so be on the lookout for those signs while shopping. A lot of retailers have sales online too, like Sephora that is offering an extra 20% off of sale items with the promo code: EXTRA20 .  Don't forget to check out the drugstore as well! Lots of holiday items are on clearance as well as limited edition cosmetics! Happy hunting!!!

What did I end up buying post Christmas? Just a few things down below!

I got this long sleeve top at Aeropostale for only $3.99! Not sure how long this deal is, but you get an extra 50% off of already marked clearance items! This was marked at $7.99, so $3.99 is not bad at all!

Did anyone else wait almost up to one hour just to check out at LUSH? I got there a few minutes after the store opened and it was jammed pack! Holiday items were flying off the shelf with their amazing once a year, BOGO Free sale. I managed to get two cute boxes filled with two bath goodies each for $13.95 for both.

From Claire's I purchased a cute snowflake necklace for $1.37 and a pair of earrings for $1.20 (I think). All Claire's holiday novelty items are 75% off. I also saw that they had Dylan's Candy Bar holiday gummies as part of the deal too.

I did manage to stop by Target and picked up a few things that I thought may be sold out soon including a pair of Scotch scissors ($2.49), a dog toy from the dollar section ($0.50), two cute small snowflakes baskets ($0.50/ea) and a holiday card garland ($5).

case you're wondering what the ISBN of the scissors is:

That's basically it for my post-Christmas shopping! I think I did a good job saving! Did you get anything on a good deal?

In Other News...
-  My sister got me the Naked 3 palette! I'm so excited!!! I'll take pictures of swatches soon!
-  I got super lazy painting my nails these past two weeks, hence why there wasn't a Manicure Monday.
- Target already has spring home decor and Valentine's Day stuff up on shelves for sale. Too early.
- A review of items I've used up will be posted within the next week or so!

REVIEW: Stila In the Moment Palette!

This is Stila's "In the Moment" palette that you can purchase at Sephora, Ulta or Stila's website for $39. This palette is designed for you to dress up your eyes for big moments in your life. This palette comes with ten eye shadows (9 shimmers and 1 semi-matte) and a purple Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner.

The palette itself is made out of cardboard, and it does not feel that sturdy.

No mirror comes with this palette. It has a quote on the inside of the lid though.

All the colors are shimmer with the exception of "Desire" which is a semi-matte nude color. It's semi-matte because there's a speck of fine glitters inside that you can barely see.
Even without primer the eye shadows have great pigmentation.

When swatched over primers the eye shadows look more vibrant.

Top row is a little powdery than the second, but all shadows are very buttery and smooth.
Instinct - Champagne shimmer, great for the inner corner of your eyes
Impulse - pale lavendar shimmer
Glance - jewel-toned purple shimmer, this one is gorgeous!
Impulse - very dark purple with purple glitter
Catalyst - black with purple glitter (more of a matte black with purple glitter)
Desire - matte nude
Wonder - pinky nude shimmer
Spontaneous - golden bronze shimmer
Captivate - dark brown with brown fine glitter

The look I created with this palette.

I used Glance on the outer corner of my eyes, Wonder on my lids and Instinct as a transition into the inner corner of my eyes. I also used Glance and Instinct on my lower lash line, and I am wearing the Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in "Tetra" on my upper lid. This is a purple-grey eye liner that is easy to apply.

This palette retails for $39, and I was fortunate enough to buy it when it was on sale at Sephora for $20. This is part of Stila's permanent line, and they have other "In the..." palettes. Overall I think this is a great palette with a nice set of good and pigmented color. The colors really fit the theme of "In the Moment," and I can understand why almost all the shades are shimmery since during a special moment in your life you may want to stand out. I had no problem with the eye liner, and saw no smudging. :)
