REVIEW: Almay Smart Shade Smart Balance

I purchased the Almay Smart Shade Smart Balance Skin Balancing Make Up a few weeks ago at CVS on clearance for 75% off in the "Light/Medium" shade. My sister told me she liked the product, but it is a light coverage face foundation or whatever you want to call it. I decided to try it out myself to see how it works, and I've got photos to show ya'll!

Right off the back as I was selecting my "shade," I noticed they only had three options: light, light/medium, and medium. The purpose of this coverage is to have the product turn into a color that is similar to your skin tone. I went with light/medium because my sister told me that medium was too dark. I actually notice that this is a big issue for Almay. They don't have a wide range of shades for different skin tones. I understand that it may be because it's a smart shade product so it's suppose to adapt to your skin tone, but really? Medium is the darkest you got?

Anyway, here are photos of my experiences with this product!

This is a photo of me without any make up, and you'll notice that I have blemishes and acne scars as well. Weather changes + stress leads to breakouts!

I squeezed out a little bit of the product out and it's a white liquid-y substance with tiny black or brown micro beads.

I applied the product to my face...

...and I noticed that the beads disappeared and the product turns into a brown color that is very close to my skin tone.

Here's another look at it.

I only have one layer on in this photo. It does a good job of covering the little marks on my face.

I decided to put another layer on to see if it'll cover my big blemishes better, and it did make them look smaller than the original photo where I didn't have any makeup on.

Overall, I like this product, and I think that it works well. It's very easy to blend onto the skin, and it has a smooth texture to it that I like. Luckily for me this shade matches my skin pretty well; however, I am not sure if any of their three shades will match everyone. This is a product that I would powder my face with to set it. Also note that this product has SPF 15, so if you don't want to look shiny, put powder on. I'm not wearing any powder on my face, but the temperature has been warm lately, so I've been feeling as if I'm melting.
Like my sister said, it's light coverage, but you can always add another layer to give it a light to medium coverage. I do like this product!

CVS Shopping Day!

It's Sunday, and that means new weekly deals! I hit up CVS today with my sister, and I didn't buy much surprisingly! I purchased a Physicians Formula Tinted Moisturizer in Natural to Tan with SPF 15 and Renu Fresh Contact Lens Solution.

Have a great Sunday everyone! :)

Target Clearance Purchases

Hi Everyone!

I stopped by Target earlier today to pick up a gift bag for one of my best friend's little sister who is graduating tomorrow from high school. I know, right? June 28th for a graduation? Yup! I graduated the same high school too, and the school always ends in late June.

Anyway, I was of course browsing the clearance end caps of most aisles, and I only picked up two additional items on top of a gift bag.

I picked up a 4 pack of toothbrush covers for only $0.36. These are great for when you have to travel and even at home if you and your family put your toothbrushes in a toothbrush holder together. I also picked up a photo frame I saw back around Easter time that finally went to 70% off. The frame was only $2.08 which is a good deal in my opinion. I love the yellow because yellow brightens up the room! :)

That's all I purchased! :)

Throwback Thursday! (Nails!)

Happy Thursday everyone! It's crazy how this week is almost over! Today is TBT or Throwback Thursday, and this is a manicure I did on myself with leopard prints about a year or so ago. The base of the manicure is Essie's "Shine of the Times," and for the leopard prints I used O.P.I.'s "Don't Know Jacques" and O.P.I's "Black Onyx." I haven't done any designs on my nails recently just because it takes a lot of time and patience. I used the nail dotting tool to get the leopard prints on. :)

(Yes, there is lipstick on my teeth. lol Whoops)

Essie Apricot Cuticle Oil!

Have any of you tried the Essie Apricot Cuticle Oil? It's been the talk for a while now in magazine ads and on the net. I finally picked it up just two weeks ago when I saw it at Rite Aid for only $2. My Rite Aid went through renovations, but I'm not sure why it was on clearance.

Anyhow, the bottle looks just like any other Essie bottle, and let me tell you that once you open it, you'll smell the apricot right away! Quite honestly, I would wear the scent as a perfume, but that's not the purpose of cuticle oil! Cuticle oil is suppose to hydrate your cuticles around your nails and skin and help promote nail growth. I basically apply cuticle oil around the edges of my nails and let the natural oil absorb and then I wipe excess oil off. The skin around my nails feel smoother after using it, but I definitely need to give this oil more uses before I can determine whether I like it or not. So far, so good! :)

You can purchase this at your local drugstore for ~$8. You can also purchase it online at Nordstrom for $8 with free shipping.

MAC Red!

Who doesn't love MAC's  "MAC Red" Lipstick ($15)?!

This is my all-time favorite red lipstick. It has a satin finish, and it makes me feel fierce (SASHA FIERCE)! Is that weird to say?! :P

For the rest of my face I am wearing:

Target Tuesday!

Yay! It's Target Tuesday! Have you guys seen the cute Sally Hansen nail files at Target? They're only $1 each, so yes, of course being the nail addict that I am, I got four of them!

If you happen to have this Sally Hansen nail treatment coupon for $1 off, you can get the nail file for FREE! Apparently nail files count as a treatment as this coupon was able to scan without any problems for me. I picked this coupon up at CVS. There was a huge stack of them on a Sally Hansen display so I took several of them. Be on the lookout for them when you go to CVS! :)

Happy Tuesday, and happy savings!

Organix Products Only $1.98 at Food 4 Less!!!

Organix is a beauty brand known for their body and hair products that I've been using for at least a year now. This is good stuff! They have a variety of scents that are designed for different hair types and purposes. One of my favorites is the Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo/Conditioner which leaves my hair silky, smooth, and shiny (in a good non-oily way! :P ).

I discovered that the Organix line at the supermarket, Food 4 Less (Krogers in other areas?), was on sale for an awesome steal price at $3.98! Already, this is a great deal since a bottle of shampoo normally costs $6-$9, depending on where you purchase it. Luckily there is a rare Organix coupon out right now that allows you to take $2 off any Organix product! Using this coupon you pay only $1.98 + tax where applicable! That's an incredible price!

I'm not sure how long this deal will last, but I've seen it at this price for at least two weeks now, so definitely get to Food 4 Less as soon as you have the opportunity!

If this deal is unavailable in your area, print the coupon anyway in case there's an upcoming deal. There are no guarantees that the coupon will be available for much longer!

Manicure Monday!

I know I've posted a Manicure Monday already, but I decided to re-do my nails since I wasn't happy with them. I am now wearing Essie's "Under Where?" from this year's Resort Collection. It's a gorgeous lilac purple creme color, and I topped it off with Essie's "Shine of the Times."

Manicure Monday!

Zoya, Zoya, Zoya. I am quite disappointed in this nail polish that I received from my Ipsy subscription back in May. I did cancel my subscription, but I resubscribed, and now I am no longer subscribed... yet again! I know! Sometimes I can't make up my mind, but I won't be purchasing makeup any time soon since I have way more than I need.

This polish is from their Spring Collection, and it's called "Gie Gie." For some reason, I had a problem applying the polish on, since as I create a stroke on my nail, a bubble would form! How annoying is it to have air bubbles all over your nail! It may be due to my shaking of the polish bottle, but it really bugged me that I tried twice painting my nails with this shade, and both times bubbled formed. I do like this color though because it's a nice pastel shimmery pink. Their spring collection is filled with pastel colors, which is no surprise, since pastels are always trending during that season.

REVIEW: Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner!

I purchased the Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner in "Black" many months ago, and it has definitely become my favorite gel-type liner. This liner came in a set for me, so it wasn't too pricey, but you can purchase this liner for $24 on their website which also comes with a double-ended brush--I use my own angle eyeliner brush.

Unlike liquid eyeliner pens and other gel eyeliners, this Tarte liner STAYS on your lid and does not smudge! It's waterproof, so one expects the product to stay on, which it does! There's no scent to the liner which I like, and I love how the liner is very creamy. It dries quickly once applied, and it is very easy to apply with a brush.

My only concern is in the case where I grab too much product on my brush. If this is the case, the liner dries up on your brush and hardens. I recommend spot cleaning your brush after every use until you deep clean your brushes.

Overall I LOVE this liner, and I will splurge and purchase it again. The quality is great, and I'm a girl that wears eye liner on the daily!

Covering Up!

'Tis the season so show a little skin, but not too much, right? Nowadays we've been seeing sheer tops, sheer dresses that gives other a little too much to look at. I'm not a fan of too much sheer and see-through clothing, but sometimes there are too many cute selections of clothing that I love, buy, and have to learn to work with!

I have several super sheer and see-through dresses in my closet including the dresses below, both purchased at H&M. You can tell easily that the dresses are pretty see-through, so how do I cover myself? A slip.

This is a slip that I also purchased at H&M. It looks like a tank top, but trust me, it's a slip that covers my butt and thighs. The material is vercose, and slip is flowy which is perfect for dresses that flow. This was only $12 at H&M, and I wear it all the time under my see-through dresses. I recommend purchasing something similar that matches your skin tone color so that you can wear it with any dress color and the slip won't stand out since it'll blend in with your skin tone.

Similarly, with see-through tops people wear camis, and if you own tank tops that show too much of a side cleavage, then I recommend wearing a bandeau top! :)

REVIEW: Biosilk Silk Therapy

The day after Memorial Day marks the first day of summer for many people, but summer doesn't start officially until Friday, June 21 (TOMORROW! :D). That doesn't mean though that it doesn't feel like summer though! The weather is getting better, and warmer, so why not be prepared ahead of time anyway?

Since it's been warmer, there are certain items that I now have to use more frequently and/or bring along with me in my bag.

This is one of them. Dun, dun, dun!

This is perhaps my favorite hair product ever, and it's the Biosilk Silk Therapy which is a hair serum where you put a tiny dime-size drop of it in your hair, and it beautifully leaves your hair silky, shiny, weightless, and fragrant. This is quite expensive, as a 5 ounce bottle can cost you up to $16, so my best recommendation is to go on a hunt for this bottle at Marshalls or TJ Maxx if you really want this product! I purchased a 15 ounce bottle for only $19.99 at a Marshalls, and I've seen the same 15 ounce bottle at other Marshalls and TJ Maxxs in San Diego. This is actually my second bottle, and my first bottle which was actually a 12 ounce bottle ($17), and it lasted at least a year! Also be on the lookout for the trio set of the Biosilk Shampoo, Conditioner, and Biosilk. I see this set often as well and they cost ~$20-$30 depending on the sizes of course.

You don't need to use a lot of this product when you apply it to your hair. I recommend a dime-size drop since this is serum, and if you add too much your hair may look very oily which is something we never want, especially during the summer! No need for extra oily-look! You can either use this on damp or dried hair. What I do after a shower is comb through my damp hair, and apply and smooth out the product through hair strands using just my fingers. It's like miracle hair once my hair completely dries! I love it!

Why is this product great for the summer? First off, my hair is chemically treated, so it is tends to be drier and more coarse compared to untreated  fine hair.  Secondly, it is H-O-T during the summer; therefore my damaged hair WILL become more damaged from the heat. This serum softens my hair where my fingers don't get stuck if I try pulling my fingers through it-- it's like a leave-in hair conditioner.

I don't carry the product around with me, unless I travel, but you can purchase travel size bottles at almost any drugstore to pour some of the Biosilk into if you own a larger bottle. The four set kit below was purchased at Target for $2.99.

Target Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday!

There's no big deal at Target that has me running to Target this week, but if you are a lip balm lover, and an EOS lip balm fan, then definitely try looking at the clearance items at Target this week whenever you get the chance since they have the EOS Medicated Tangerine Lip Balm on clearance for 15% or 30% off at $2.55 or $2.09!

My sister purchased "Medicated Tangerine" for me at Walmart for full price at $2.99. I saw several of these on clearance at Target, but I am sure they are going to go fast since they are on clearance, and EOS is quite popular. There are no guarantees that these will be available at your local Target store. The clearance price and availability varies depending on your region and store.

Classic Black Eye SetNude Pinks Lip Set

Manicure Monday!

JulieG's "Cabana Boy" is probably one of the prettiest blues I have ever seen. This creme color polish is not too dark, yet not too light like a baby blue. It's the perfect in between blue (with purple undertone) that caught my attention at Rite Aid! This is one of my favorite polishes by JulieG that I have tried! I am wearing only two coats and a top coat of Seche Vite. JulieG polishes apply smoothly as usual! I have to say that I prefer this color over her Sugar Gum Drop collection!

Fashion Haul!

I keep telling myself that my favorite seasons are autumn, and winter, but I've been loving spring more, and more (I guess some of you may call it summer already though)! I have no doubts that I'll be loving summer as well, although I'm not so sure how much heat the sun can bring me down!

Nevertheless, I absolutely love shopping no matter what season, month, or holiday it is. I have to admit that my favorite time to shop is during the holiday season, but that is another story for the winter! I've been to Old Navy, Target, and Forever 21 within the past few weeks where browsing around turned into purchasing new items!

My favorite gift I received from Nar are these beautiful Ballerina with Ankle Straps flats from Zara. I have been looking at these flats for ages ever since they came out at the beginning of spring, but the price was too ridiculous at $89.90. I discovered that they were on sale when we went to the Zara at South Coast Plaza for $50. $50 is still expensive in my consideration, but they were better than $90, and heck, I really wanted these flats! They are a lovely nude color with a gorgeous anklet chain.
The chain can be easily removed, so these flats are easy to dress up and dress down!

I can't say that they are the comfiest flats I've ever worn, but they are very cute, and stylish!

You will most likely have toe-cleavage like me, so that is also something to consider!

Old Navy had really cute lightweight graphic sweaters on sale for $15 or less. I picked this one up for only $10 in the clearance section. It's a mint color sweater with "Love" written across from it. I love finding great deals! I've worn this several times since purchasing it, and I just wear it alone without a cami underneath since it feels almost like a regular long sleeve shirt.
This is a beautiful and rather large yellow statement necklace with a string of crystals braided in. I just love the bold color! Great for summer! I purchased this on clearance at Target for approximately $5.

I picked this dress up on clearance as well at Target for only $7.48 at 70% off. There are two pockets along the sides, and a nice floral pattern that runs down the center of the chest and the bottom of the dress. I don't wear blue often, but that is going to change!

I picked up these earrings from Target too for $3.98, although I believe it is now around $3. These are cute and simple white dangling earrings. White and turquoise jewelry are the colors to wear for the summer.

I picked up this necklace from Target for approximately $5 -$6. I like the length of it as well as the stones and arrows. It kind of reminds me of the Flintstones. Haha!

Lastly from Target, I picked up a La Mer watch for $30. La Mer Collection watches normally cost $150-200+, and La Mer teamed up with Target to release some limited edition watches which are gorgeous! Some of the styles are now on clearance including the one I picked up as seen below.

The watch looks super long because it's a wrap style watch, where you wrap the straps continuously around your wrist to create something that looks like arm candy! I got super excited when I saw this style because I love the turquoise and white of course! Pretty cool, huh?

I stopped by H&M two weeks ago and picked up this see-though white drop-waist dress that has lace sleeves on the sides. White is a gorgeous color to wear during the summer, especially if you have a gorgeous glowing tan! I picked this up because it was on clearance for only $10, and because I loved the little details of the dress from the folded lace along the sides to the folded pleats under the waistline of the dress. And of course I'll be wearing a slip underneath!

My last two purchases are from Forever 21. Nar actually purchased this bag for me for $30, and I am in love with it! It is a Quilted Faux Leather Satchel in cream with black lining. The metals on the bag are in gold. I love this bag not only because it is black and white, but mostly because it is spacious! If you ever get a chance to look at the bag, look inside, and you'll find that there there is fabric that divides the space into two compartments. I like this idea because I can better organize the items I carry around with me. Most of the time I throw random items in my bag, and it gets lost somewhere. This bag is not too small or big, and comes with a handle and detachable and adjustable shoulder strap. My only complaint has to be the sturdiness of the strap which is actually thin. It feels very cheap and I'm scared that it may rip if I put too many items in my bag. Overall, I really like this bag!

 Lots of space!
The bag has an open and close clasp on the flap.
You can also purchase this bag in black with cream lining.

Last but not least, I purchased sandals from F21! Yay for summer! These are cute nude and metallic sandals I purchased for only $9! They are similar to these but in a different color! I find them very comfortable, and easy to strap in.

I am almost positive that if you go into the store, you can find more of these sandals in different colors in the same style!

That's all for my fashion haul! I'm going to put a pause on my fashion shopping now! :P
